Norwegian Tourist Shirts
The Nasjonale turistveger is an endeavor by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to create an experiential travel route through the country’s landscape. Along the way are public infrastructure projects designed by mostly local architects and designers. The “Norwegian Tourist Shirts” are a response to a two-week study abroad that begun in Oslo and ended north of the Arctic Circle in Tromsø. The format of printing on t-shirts is a play on the tacky tourist shirts seen while traveling the routes. Each shirt contains an acetone transferred orthographic drawing that highlights one project. A layer of colored embroidery floss is stitched above the drawing revealing a playful metaphor.
