The drawing is an analysis of movement and grouping through space. It recalls a visit to the U.S. Capitol Building illustrating the complete sequence from the entrance to the House and Senate Chambers. Bodies become lines, waiting to be let through security. Devices like ropes, x-ray machines, stairs, and statues become way-finders as they direct and control the speed of movement. Round rooms create organic clusters, whereas rows of chairs create rigid uniform lines.
